Brief biographies of our firm’s top management.
Mr. Feroz Alam Bhuiyan is the Chairman & Managing Director of United Marine Transport Corporation. Mr. Bhuiyan is a renowned and reputed shipping business personality. He has 36.50 years of experience including 6.50 years service experience in the area of ship owning, ship chartering, bulk commodity trading and ship sale and purchase. Mr. Bhuiyan is expert in foreign banking, investment banking, and corporate finance, foreign trade having worked with clients of Royal Bank of Scotland PLC London, Ex Bank of Credit & Commerce International Ltd, American Express Bank and Bank of America in Hong Kong. Mr. Bhuiyan has developed Joint Venture Projects of Multi Equipment Co. based in Port Terminal Operation at Port Qasim and Karachi Port in Pakistan for the company he was working. He also set up Joint Venture Project in Philippines for plying larger sizes of barge operation at Manila Bay. He has vast experience in acquisition of ship assets for trading, ship recycling industries and deep sea lighter operation both locally and internationally.
Mr. Bhuiyan has past track records of working with one of the largest ship operating company in the world and also as an auditor for ‘Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation, Bangladesh Textile Mills Corporation, Monno Group, Concord Group and Bangladesh Krishi Bank Ltd. He holds B.Com (Hons) in Accounting and M.Com in Accounting from University of Dhaka and completed his Chartered Accountancy Course from ICAB. Mr. Bhuiyan traveled worldwide including USA, UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, Philippines and other major shipping country hubs.
Mrs. Afroza Akhter, spouse of Mr. Feroz Alam Bhuiyan, is the Vice Chairman and Additional Managing Director of the company. She is mainly responsible for financial, MIS and HRM of the company. Apart from overseeing companies above activities, she is also involved in various social, philanthropy and humanitarian activities. Mrs. Afroza traveled to several countries in Europe and Asia.
Ms. Sakia Yasmeen was appointed as Director of United Marine Transport Corporation. She is responsible for looking after the Human Resource Management (HRM) and Management Information System (MIS) of the company. Ms. Yasmeen holds B.Sc in Business Administration from Royal Holloway, University of London, United Kingdom.
Ms. Fatema Feroz was appointed as Director of United Marine Transport Corporation. Ms. Fatema holds B.Sc in Business Administration from The London School of Economics, United Kingdom.
Ms. Nazneen Murshed was appointed as CFO of United Marine Transport Corporation. Ms. Murshed holds a B.Com (Hons) and Masters Degree in Accounting and has extensive experience in managing companies financial activities and adhering to GAAP.
Mr. Mohammad Azharul Haque was appointed as CEO of Asset Management Division (Fund and Treasury Management) and a member of Executive Committee. Mr. Haque is responsible for shaping company’s investment strategy for short, medium and long term including company’s alternate investment strategies.
Mr. Haque has 13 years experience in the banking and securities sector and holds MBA with concentration in Finance and Banking and BBA with concentration in Marketing from North South University. He also underwent numerous training and workshop in both home and abroad. He completed Post Graduation in Asset Management from BICM and Advance Asset Management Training from NISM, Mumbai, India.
Mr. Ahammad Hossain was appointed as CEO of Asset Holdings looking after the company’s real estate investment division. Mr. Hossain holds B.Sc in Civil Engineering and has 29 years of working experience in various reputed real estate organizations including Asset Development and Holding Ltd, South Breeze Housing Ltd, Sheltech (Pvt) Ltd, Anwar Landmark Ltd, Sanmar Properties Ltd, etc.
B.M. Asif Khurshed Alam was appointed as CEO of United Marine Transport Corporation. He is responsible for overall ship management of company’s fleets including overseeing ship technical matters. Mr. Alam holds a B.Sc. (EEE) Honours from BRAC University and M.Sc. in Nuclear Engineering from Dhaka University and has extensive experience in vessel operations.
Md. Lutfor Rahman was appointed as CEO of United Marine Transport Corporation responsible for looking after company’s commercial and operational function of the vessels. Md. Lutfor Rahman holds B.Sc (Hons) and M.Sc in Mathematics.
Kamal Uddin Mahmud was appointed as COO of United Marine Transport Corporation responsible for looking after company’s finance and accounts division. Mr. Kamal holds Bachelors Degree from UK and previously worked 7 years in USA and UK.
Since the companies inception in 1991 and during its first decade, United Marine Transport represented Anselm Shipping Limited in Bangladesh who at that time, was one of the major demo cash operators of scrap vessels based in London. The company sold 115 vessels of different sizes to the tune of 1.2 million lightship displacement tonnage (LDT) during that period. The company was also one of the leading port agency service providers in Chittagong and Mongla representing major US, European and Japanese shipping firms.
The company’s ship operating division provided marine transportation services to reputed international commodity traders that included Louis Dreyfus Company, Conagra, Alfred C. Toepher International (renamed ADM Germany GmbH), TATA Steel and many more.
Since 2003 and entering into the firms second decade, the company was involved in ship sale and purchase of trading vessels and ship management of bulk carriers between small to handy size segment.
At present, the company is experiencing robust growth and is exclusively focused on dry bulk ship operating and ship sale and purchase business. Throughout our 30 year history, we have performed 100% of our contracts, charters and financial obligations.

Global Operator of Dry Bulk Vessels:
The company has an asset light, trading-oriented business model carrying mostly its in house dry bulk commodities. United Marine operates vessels in the size of mini bulk, small to handy size with a particular focus on Asia Pacific and Indian Ocean continent.
As an international dry bulk ship operator, we specialize in chartering vessels and enter into contracts of affreightment (COA), time charter, voyage charter and spot fixing chartering agreements.
Local Operator of Dry Bulk Vessels:
At any given time we operate around 40-50 vessels with size between 1,200 dwt to 5,500 dwt carrying wide range of dry bulk commodities such as clinker, cement, limestone, slag, gypsum, fly ash, coal, aggregates and many more. Due to our own lighter vessel arrangements in Bangladesh, we make sure fast turnaround of mother vessels at Chittagong & Mongla Port.
Dry Cargo Shipbroking:
Our dry cargo shipbroking has been a key part of our business since the company was founded in 1991. We work with reliable charterers and handle dry cargo vessels of size between 3,000 mt to handy, handymax and supramax size specializing on Far East, South East Asia including Indian Sub Continent and Middle East Region.
We sale second hand dry bulk trading vessels ranging from 6,000 dwt to supramax size to local shipowners and conglomerates.
